March 10 dryer lint and Elephant Poo paperI've done laundry today for like the first time in two weeks, plus the laundry i left here before I went home to America after Thailand. Were takling a lot of loads when you count all the blankets and sheets from my sick days. Anyways, so I've cleaned out the dryer vent a whole bunch (really I'm praising the father for even having a dryer because to have a dryer in China is really rare, NO one has them) and as bizarre as it is I don't mind cleaning out the dryer lint because it mostly smells nice and ok, so even though it is weird I enjoy doing it. However, I do not really like cleaning out washing machine lint nearly as much, and I really don't like lint that is not mine. If i'm going to clean out lint I would rather it be mine. But no one remembers to clean out washing machine lint much. Washing machines in China have little lint catchers in them since no one has dryers and clothes in general have lint on them. Anyways so this is the type of thing that goes through my head as I clean out the washingmachine and dryer lint--wouldn't it be great if there was a way we could recylcle lint? Like make paper out of it or something? My teammate Helen just showed me today this picture frame that was made out of recycled paper that was made out of Elephant Poo that she bought in Thailand. Now if they can make pictures frames out elephant poo, I ask you, why can't they find a way to recycle dryer lint? These are the things that go through my head while I do laundry. rejoining the human raceSo today is the first day in the last 11 where I have put on something other than a pair of pjs. For the last two weeks I've pretty much sat either on the couch or in my bed as i dealt with a 102 temp, and what was diagnosed as bronchitus. There were also four hospital visits within that time span, two of which were at a scary chinese hospital I won't ever be visiting again in this lifetime, I don't care how sick i am or how much it costs me. Shudder. But Beijing United is a very nice place to visit for anyone who has never been there and needs to go in the future. For those of you who enjoy lifting things up on my behalf, feel free to lift up my health :) I am recovering currently and am rather worn out. All I've done today is do laundry and answer email and i'm exhausted. So a swift reccoup. would be nice seeing as I think I should probably teach on Monday. |
